Meet Recap

The Dock girls cross country team opened the regular season on a chilly September morning by blazing to fast times at the 50th Mill Street Run.
All four girls who competed finished in the Top 11 of the Small Schools division Saturday
in Bristol, Pa., and set the standard high for the remainder of the year. Their times showed promise for a tight pack and faster finishes.
Sara Kennel was third out of the four Dock runners as they passed through the first or two loops, but over the second loop she showed her finishing speed to move to the front and lead the team. The freshman finished seventh in the Small Schools division in 21 minutes, 51 seconds. The time marked a huge improvement over her two scrimmage finishes.
Not far behind was Lindsey Bernd, who opened her senior year by gutting out a strong 22:06 finish for eighth place. Abbie Wood, another senior who ran the first loop of the course with Bernd, came out well in her first official cross country race in 10th overall to claim the final individual medal in 22:48.
Freshman Isa Rodriguez showed significant over her two scrimmage races by running 22:56 for 11th place overall.
Assistant Coach Cindy Moyer set a strong example with a personal-best for second place in the women’s division in the open 5k race.
The Dock girls return to action in their first Bicentennial Athletic League race Tuesday at Tyler State Park.
