Girls Cross Country Brings New Faces to BAL Regional

Girls XC 2017

While Erica Gunden ran the Tyler State Park course for the final time in the regular season, Sara Kennel and Isa Rodriguez were getting their first look at the 5-kilometers that serves as the Bicentennial Athletic League championship site.

Kennel found the course to her liking. The freshman took third overall in 22:58. She ran evenly over the 3.1 miles, and saved her fastest mile for her final mile to close quickly down the stretch.

Gunden, the senior co-captain for the Dock girls, continues to lower her times. She clipped nearly two minutes off her final scrimmage time to run 24:03 for 11th place.

Rodriguez, a freshman, looked strong through two miles. She continues to discover just how far she can push her pace. She finished in 25:11 for 15th place.

The Dock girls resume training in preparation for a look at the state championship site in Hershey, Pa. They will compete in the Foundation Invitational on the state course on Sept. 23.
