ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released its 2015 Longstreth / NFHCA Division III All-Region teams this afternoon. Two Eastern players earned recognition by coaches from the region for their play this season.

Senior defender Megan Bolton was named to the first team while sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Beger was named to the second team for the South Atlantic Region.

Bolton battled through injury to play in 15 games this season. She scored five goals and tallied three assists. Bolton scored 39 career goals and added 18 assists while also adding 27 defensive saves. Bolton was a first-team All-MAC Freedom performer for the fourth time in her career. She also received the honor to play in the 2015 Victory Sports Tours / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Game. It is the third All-Region honor for Bolton.

“The recognition concludes and seals the legacy of her impact here at Eastern,” said Head Coach Camrin Azzarano. “Megan was dominant due to her competitive drive for herself and her teammates. She always enjoyed the accomplishments of her team more than her individual ones. She was an excellent role model and example.”

Berger, in her first season with Eastern, was named MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year. She led the MAC with a .803 save percentage and posted a 1.576 overall goals against average. That number dropped to less than 1.2 goals against in league play.

“Berger made a difference for us. Her experience and skills gave us the confidence we needed to compete at a level we believed we were capable of doing,” continued Azzarano. “I believe this recognition will cause Berger to want to do more for her team. She is the type of player who is most comfortable with her peers on the playing field. Nicole will hold herself accountable in continuing to get better.”
