Game Recap

Dock Mennonite Academy Boys Soccer team beat cross-town opponent Faith Christian 3-2 in OT for the first Home night game of the season. The stands were packed with students, family, friends, and alumni for a game that has become a game to watch over the past few years between Dock and Faith. On an unusually brisk early September evening there was plenty of energy in the stadium. Dock soccer came off a rough loss yesterday afternoon to New Hope, but turned around for back to back league games…but tonight Dock soccer showed up to play. From the start the energy level was there, ball movement and communication were much better than the day before, and the team was back to playing Dock Soccer.
Dock went down early when FCA forward Isaiah Robinson got behind the back line of Dock defense and netted the first goal of the night 11 minutes into the game. Dock responded when Austin Kratz served a ball across the box which looked like it was going out the backside, when a sliding Braden Landis cleaned up the back post and beat FCA keeper Chase Peev to tie the game. Both teams held possession and the game went back and forth with scoring opportunities for both teams. With 10 minutes left in the half FCA back Hunter Jones hit a perfectly placed free kick from 30 yards out that found its way just under the cross bar to give FCA a 2-1 lead. With a few minutes left in the half, Austin Kratz served another free kick across the box which found the head of Ralph Saint-Fleur to tie the game 2-2 going into halftime. While there were no goals in the 2nd half, it was definitely a high energy half with many opportunities for both team. 2 minutes into the 1st overtime Kyle Wells won a head ball in the offensive third which found the feet of Austin Kratz who split the back line of FCA and finished a nicely placed ball past the outstretched arms of the keeper to give Dock the 3-2 OT win again Faith Christian Academy. Dock Boys Soccer came together as a team this evening and pulled off a quality win.
