A parade of Dock finishers helped to carry them to second place in the District 1 Class A Championships on Friday at Lehigh University.
Country Day School of the Sacred Heart won the overall title, but no team in the race could match the narrow gap between Dockâs top finishers. Their split of 46 seconds from Nos. 1 to 5 was the best in Class A and their best of the season. They did not allow any other team to squeeze between them.
Lael Flores posted her best time of the season, 20 minutes, 53 seconds, for 11th overall. She was just two spots out of qualifying automatically as an individual for the state championship.
Lindsey Bernd was 26 seconds back in 12th place in a season-best 21:19. Erica Gunden ran an inspired 21:33 for 13th. Jules Rotelle led the first of three Dock seniors across the line in 14th in a season-best 21:37. Camryn McCloskey also posted a season best as she rounded out Dockâs scoring in 15th in 21:39.
Alana Bergey returned to form with a season-best 22:25 clocking for 18th place. Abbey Keller closed her first year of cross country on a high note. The freshman established a new personal record of 26:43.
Dock will graduate three seniors who were vital parts of the success of the team over their careers, and hopes to maintain the standards that they set.
