Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Dock Indoor T&F Athletes Positioning Themselves For A Big Finish

The final month of indoor track and field began with Dock athletes positioning themselves for a big finish.

Austin Kratz continued his incredible winter at the Ocean Breeze Invitational by winning the boys 200 meters in an Ocean Breeze Park and Athletic Complex record 21.23 seconds, just one-hundredth of a second off the all-time Pennsylvania record. The senior’s time ranks him second nationally. Overshadowed by his 200 was Kratz’s win in the 55-meter dash in 6.40 seconds to tie his personal record.

Another Dock senior, Alex Martin, captured the varsity shot put with a throw of 50-feet-6¼ to narrowly miss his own personal record.

Fellow senior Nick Smith returned to top speed with an 8.18 second clocking in the 55-meter hurdles, just off his personal record. Thomas Schreiber continues his progress in the hurdles by knocking his personal best down to 8.69 seconds.

Nick Halstead placed 17th in the sophomore 400-meter dash. Dylan Rush ran 7.01 in the 55 dash. Praise Zoegar jumped 38-feet-7½ in the triple jump and ran 7.16 seconds in the 55 dash. Marques Brockington ran 25.55 for the 200 meters, and he finished the 400 in 1:01.61. Jonathan Anderson ran the sophomore mile in 5:33.09. Dock’s 4×200 relay ran 1:35.46.

The Dock girls team is also rounding into good form and set or nearly equaled several personal records at the Ocean Breeze Invitational. Senior multi-event standout Abbie Woods ran the 55-meter hurdles in 9.32 seconds, just one-hundredth of a second off her personal best. Sophomore Alison Keach recorded a new best of 11.08 in the hurdles.

Molly Hand set a new personal record when she soared 15-feet-2 in the girls long jump. In the freshman girls long jump, Olivia Mercure placed eighth.

Freshman middle distance runners Isa Rodriguez and Lydia King both set new personal records for the 800 meters and followed them up with bests in the 200 meters as well. Rodriguez clocked 2:40.12 while King ran 2:44.53 for the girls 800. Rodriguez returned to run 32.06 and King ran 32.81 in the girls 200.
