Girls Varsity Tennis · Successful Girls Tennis Season Leads to District Acheivements


Kasey Cai (Senior) picked up where she left off in her Junior season. As the 5th seed in the BAL Singles Tournament, Kasey got off to a slow start, but won a close match versus Delco Christian. She rolled through her second match against Jenkintown’s #1 and was into the semi-finals. With a 4th Place finish in the tournament, she was awarded a wild card spot in the District One Singles Tournament at Legacy Club in Philadelphia.

Her first round matchup was Bean Hughes of Upper Moreland and was defeated 6-3, 6-0.

This was the first time a female Dock tennis player qualified in back-to-back District Singles tournaments since Laurelyn Foderaro in 2002 and 2003.

Theresa Beck (Senior) and Maggie Dowell (Freshman) had an outstanding season playing in the 1st Doubles position all season together. Their tremendous doubles play earned themselves a chance to play in the BAL Doubles Tournament. With a couple of close matches, plus some clutch points towards the end of their first two rounds. They made it to the semi-finalist round. With a 4th Place finish in the tournament, they were awarded a spot in the District One bracket as a wild card.

They played Jocelyn Baumeister and Bean Hughes of Upper Moreland and were defeated 6-2, 6-1.

This was the first time a female Dock doubles team qualified for the District tournament since 2011.
