News · PIAA Cancels Winter Sports State Playoffs and Spring Sport Season

As a result of Governor Wolf terminating in-person learning for the remainder of the school year, both the completion of winter sports championships and the spring sport season have been cancelled.

With that said, I want to recognize the great disappointment and loss for our boys basketball team. The team was on a state playoff run where no other Dock team had reached in the history of the program. In my opinion, they represent the best and most talented boys basketball team we have ever had at Dock. It is truly unfortunate these young men could not further test their ability to go all the way to a state championship! Congratulations to our talented group of players, Head Coach Fergus, and Assistant Coaches Etheridge, Perry, and France!

Many of our spring sport teams looked forward to the possibility of winning league and district titles, as well as positive camaraderie and memories that come from working together as one! I know a number of our seniors were anticipating the promise of their last season, looking forward to what they could achieve as an individual, as well as leaders of team effort and achievement. With that said, I want to recognize the loss all our spring sport student-athletes are experiencing, and in particular, want to empathize with our seniors who will not be able to experience the reward of playing at their highest level as a senior.

I also want to recognize the loss our spring coaches are experiencing. They too have put a lot of training and support into their student-athletes, both in-season and out-of-season, leading them toward team togetherness and opportunities to be successful!  As a coach, missing out on the reward of playing the games is also a great loss!

Last but not least, we anticipate honoring our student-athletes who have made college commitments and those being honored with an athletic department award. These honors will be presented in May, through video and printed program on

Wishing all of you God’s blessing as we journey through the pandemic!
