News · Kirby King Hired as New Boys Volleyball Coach

The Dock Athletic Department announces the hiring of Kirby King, to our Head Boys Volleyball Coach position.

Coach King started our boys volleyball program in 1996, and during his eleven year tenure our teams won six league titles and two district championships. At that time, we competed at the large school, or triple-A level, for both district and state playoffs, which made success at that level rather unusual for a small school like Dock.  Dock won back to back district titles in 2003, 2004, and were in the state triple-A rankings several of those early years of that decade.

Needless to say, Coach King brings a great knowledge of what it takes to win and be successful at the high school level. Along with that knowledge are his abilities to teach the fundamentals and game strategies, as well as his approach of keeping it simple so players can more quickly learn skill and react in game play. Equally important, is his calm but direct communication style, which also is helpful in developing players and team for success.

Coach King has been our boys volleyball assistant coach for the past four years, which helps in making our transition more seamless. We look forward to the vision and leadership Coach King will bring to our boys volleyball program!
