Game Recap

Nearing the end of the year for the JV boys soccer team, Dock was able to play some of their best team soccer. They controlled a huge portion of the match, they connected multiple passes, they communicated well, and they managed to finish off great scoring chances. As a team, this was a complete win. The back line was able to dictate pressure, and set a high line, while the mids were able to connect and distribute. Multiple goals came from wonderful crosses from the outsides like Nathan Kim who had 2 assists from that spot! Finally, the offensive onslaught was led by Sebastian Hou and Nathan Smeland. Sebastian was able to finish off 2 goals, while Nathan was able to answer that with 3 of his own. The team looked great, this late in the year and we look to continue the positive progress as we finish off the year at Calvary Christian. Well done boys!

Game Recap

Dock Mennonite Academy Boys Varsity Soccer 7 game win streak came to an end on Tuesday night as they dropped a league match to Church Farm 2-0. It was a cool Fall evening and some great soccer weather, but Dock was unable to get things going. An athletic and scrappy Church Farm team was able to capitalize on two plays in the game, a corner kick and a restart in which the injury sub was still making his way onto the field which were the deciding factors in tonight game. There were a number of calls (or non calls) that did not go Dock’s way in tonight game, but in the end we were unable to put the ball in the back of the net. Dock had opportunities with shots off the post, shots just wide, and shots right at the keeper, but was unable to put one in the back of the net. Dock has 2 more games this week to wrap up the regular season and then make a push into playoffs where anything can happen and a rematch with Church Farm is likely.

Testimonials Supporting Mind of The Athlete Resources
** “It’s increasingly important for athletes and coaches to recognize that training the mind is as critical to athletic success as training the body.”
Lindsay Gottlieb, Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Cal Berkley, CA

** “The single greatest factor that interferes with performance is a lousy state of mind. This book teaches athletes how to clear away negative thoughts and let their true potential shine through.”
John O’Sullivan, Author of Changing the Game Project, Former Pro Soccer Player, Bend, OR

**“There is not enough time placed on understanding the mental side of competition. Mind of the Athlete gives athletes a foundational resource to not only understand how their minds work in all areas of competition, it provides skills to create a clearer mind for better performance. These principles are something that my daughter and I continue to reference on a regular basis, as she progresses through her collegiate soccer career.”

Game Recap

LOWER MORELAND HIGH SCHOOL- The air was feeling cool and so was Dock as Lower Moreland came out and put one past our keeper in the 4th minute of the first half. Lower Moreland was on their toes and battled from the beginning leaving Dock frustrated and tired as they chased. Due to formation changes and some confusion, the girls struggled to find their chemistry this game. Lower Moreland followed the first goal with another 14 minutes in. Dock came close with a few missed balls traveling in front of Lower Moreland’s keeper, as well as a few balls hitting the post. The girls tried their best for the remainder of the first half and ended it as 2-0.

Starting the second half Lower Moreland came out even faster than the first. Dock knew that they had to compete and that with just one goal they were back in the game. That goal was never to happen as Lower Moreland took advantage of loose marking and misunderstanding amoungst Dock teammates. The flood gates opened as Lower Moreland deluged Dock’s pores defense, scoring four more times: at the 2, 10, 12 and 20 minute marks. Some key players during this game were Mikayla Frederick as she battled against their best plyer #12 on defense and shut her down numerous times, Abby Nice and McKenzie Gordon who also hustled and shined defensively, and McKenzie Swartley who created opportunities for us up top with her crosses and great passes. As this was a tough game for Dock, the girls knew that they had played a good team who deserved to win. The girls will come out positive and ready for the next game!

Meet Recap

Our final match of the season was away at Upper Dublin Golf Course and we ended the season with a win against a young Jenkintown team. I’d like to recognize Sam Thompson for his steady growth as a player over the 4 seasons he has been on the team. Although Sam was not regularly mentioned during the post game write-ups, he worked hard to learn and has a good mental capacity for golf. He was always smiling and having a good time when golfing.

Game Recap

Dock boys JV soccer was able to keep the momentum going after a back and forth match against Delco Christian. Throughout the first half, the play was fairly even. Both sides had chances and neither team was able to take the lead. Dock was able to at times dominate the play and force the pressure in their offensive third. As the second half rolled around, the team knew they were going to break through, they could feel it and the pressure grew on the opposing teams net. Shot after shot, the team was unable to slide a ball across. Until a ball was served on frame by Sebastian Hou, which was fumbled by the keeper and fell to an on rushing Aidan Kelly who was able to bury it for the first goal of the game. Following that, about 8 minutes after, the Dock boys were able to strike again. Off of a beautifully served corner, by Peyton Phillips, Ryan Kratz was able to head a ball towards goal that was deflected in by the opposing side. With a 2-0 lead, and only about 14 minutes left in the game, the team was able to shut the door, and come out on top, adding to their win column. They look to finish strong, with just 2 games remaining on the season!
