December 21, 2018- Dock boys basketball returned to action tonight against a scrappy athletic Roxborough team. After a long week of practice the Pioneers were itching to get back on the court but something was different about tonight. In efforts to extend their basketball program, the team decided to host the game at Dock Mennonite Academy EC-8 Campus. This change in venue turned out to be a great idea because the gym was packed and the energy was electric. As for the game itself, both teams didn’t disappoint.
The first quarter ended in a tie 15-15 but much like last game Dock’s defense held tough only giving up three points in the second quarter, giving the Pioneers a slim halftime lead. The second half turned out to be a grudge match as each team traded baskets as well as turnovers, to both coaches dismay. Key defensive stands in the fourth quarter allowed Dock to open the game up. Roxborough’s in your face defense backfired as the Indians found themselves in foul trouble throughout the game. This caused Roxborough to pull back and Dock seized the momentum. Capitalizing on the foul advantage, the Pioneers took home the win with the final score 60-48.
Please come support your Pioneers as they play game two of a back to back away at West Chester East High School Saturday evening at 6:30 pm.
