In the first year of a combined District 1, 2 and 11 Sub Regional District Playoff, Dock hosted Crestwood High School. The teams were seeded 7th and 8th respectively. The Dock squad came out strong against this unknown opponent from the Wilkes Barre area.
Throughout the match it was Dock’s all around play that kept them on track. Dock had tough serving which definitely kept the opponent off balance. Combine that with Dock’s steady performance in serve receive and defense and it was a relatively easy night for The Pioneers. That likely won’t be the case as Dock moves on in the playoffs. They now face top seed Holy Redeemer away on Wednesday in Wilkes Barre at 5 PM. Holy Redeemer has only 1 loss on the season.
On the night, Dock was led was by Sophomore Outside Hitter Jake Shreiner with 9 kills. Seniors Sam Gingerich and Troy Vasey each added 6 kills. Junior setter Eli Vasey had 24 assists and 3 aces in a solid outing. Senior Connor Derstine had 12 digs and 2 aces.
