Right from the start, Dock Girls Soccer was strong on the attack. Less than a minute into the game, junior Peyton Scialanca receives a cross from Emma Kratz. Trying to put it away, with a lot of commotion in the box, Scialanca attempts a shot on goal. Unable to clear the zone, Philmont’s defender accidentally deflected Scialanca’s shot to make the score 1-0. In the first 15 minutes of the game, Dock controlled most of the possession, with 13 shots on goal. 25 minutes into the first half, Emma Kratz used her speed to fly down the flank past Phil-Mont’s outside back. She was able to cross the ball into the box, and freshman Mackenzie Derstine was there to put it away. The half ended with Dock leading 2-0. In the second half, Dock was able to work the ball nicely and switch the field often. With 10 minutes left in the game, Mackenzie Derstine received a ball wide from sophomore Emma Kratz. Derstine took a beautiful shot from 20 yards out and placed it far post to make the score 3-0. With just 5 minutes left in the game, Dock was awarded a penalty kick due to a hand ball in the box from Phil-Mont’s defender. Junior Lauren Moatemri took the penalty kick and scored. The goal was called back due to a Dock player entering the box before the ball was kicked. Moatemri took the penalty kick again, but Phil-Mont’s goalie came up big to make the save. The game ended with a Dock win, 3-0. Strong central control from Sydney Leaman and Meghan Jurin helped to keep possession in Dock’s offensive end for most of the game. Dock is back in action on Thursday against Delco Christian.
