The Lady Pioneers of Dock headed on the road highly motivated for a rematch against Phil-Mont Christian.
This game, just like the last came down to the wire where no lead was safe.
Each team contested well on defense throughout the entire first half, as both teams posted modest scoring totals in each of the first two quarters (Dock scored 5 in the first, 6 in the second. Phil-Mont scored 5 in the first, 8 in the second.)
This defensive battle led to a 13 to 11 halftime lead for the home team.
Senior Captain Kate Strickland led all scorers with 9pts at the half.
Half-time adjustments were made by the Lady Pioneers, which inspired a 14 – 3 outburst in the 3rd period. Creating double digit turnovers for Phil-Mont & capitalizing with timely layups & jumpers.
This pick up of defensive intensity & offensive efficiency helped Dock gain a 25 to 16 advantage after 3.
Unfortunately for Dock, the script was flipped in the 4th quarter. As Phil-Mont forced Dock into 10 turnovers, which led them to outscore Dock 18 to 4 to squeak out a 5-point victory.
Despite the loss, Dock showed growth as it competed in another close battle that just did not end in its favor.
Strickland ended the game with 18pts & 3rebs
Fellow Senior Captain Audrey Schweizerhof & Junior Forward Jessica Crissman pulled down 8 rebounds apiece in what was a physical battle throughout.
Your Lady Pioneers are 2 – 5 (2nd in Districts) & look to get back into the win column at 7pm tonight, in a home contest against rival BAL & District opponent, Delco Christian.
