Dock Girls Soccer played a tough battle against Delaware County Christian. Even though both teams were scoreless in the first half, there were many great scoring opportunities. Delco’s goalie came up big on the 7 shots Dock had in the first half. Dock’s defensive line, Laurel Latt, Clara Benner and Katherine Wenzel, were strong and composed, which prevented Delco from having any shots in the first half. Dock came out strong in the second half with tons of pressure in Delco’s final third. In the 43rd minute, freshman MacKenzie Derstine started the attack wide, and found Emma Kratz in the middle to put it away. Peyton Scialanca, Meghan Jurin And Lauren Moatemri controlled much of the attack from the central midfield. Moatemri was able to beat 2 players on the attack and found Emma Kratz with the through ball. Kratz found the back of the net in the 62nd minute. Trying to defend and protect their lead, the Pioneers were close to keeping the shut up until Delco Christian took a shot from 25 yards out over the head of goalkeeper Laura Frederick. Dock was able to keep the lead to end the game with a final of 2-1.
