Girls Soccer faced off against Faith Christian Academy on Tuesday evening under the lights. After the first 20 minutes being evenly matched, Dock continued to battle to finally find the scoreboard in the 24th minute. Senior Ashley Lapp took a free kick and placed it into the box. Faith tried to clear it but was unsuccessful as freshman, Ashley Brown was there at the top of the box to put in her one time shot over Faith’s goalkeeper. Less than 5 minutes later, junior midfielder Eden Loux quickly saw outside midfielder Ashley Lapp making the far side run and placed a beautiful through ball into space. Lapp quickly found the through ball and took two touches to find the back of the net. Dock’s overall intensity and composure was exactly where it needed to be at this point in the game. Less than two minutes later, Eden Loux once again was able to find herself out of pressure and slotted the diagonal ball through Faith’s back line. Freshman Ashley Brown found the open lane and quickly got behind Faith’s defense. Brown took a quick prep touch and found the back of the next to take the lead 3-0. With less than 8 minutes left in the first half, Dock controlled the attack in Faith’s defensive end. Ashley Lapp attacked down the flank and was able to get a cross into the box. Faith was unable to clear the zone, and Lapp was there to capitalize on their mistake to put in her second goal of the game. With 11 minutes left in the game, senior Billinda Leisner drew Faith’s defender out wide and was able to beat her on the endline. Leisner slotted the ball across the box to senior Ceara Barnes. Barnes placed her first-time shot low and to the corner to finalize the score 5-0. Dock’s next game is away on Monday, September 11th 3:45pm against Calvary Christian Academy.
