On a Thursday afternoon, the Pioneers of Dock Mennonite Academy hosted league opponent Delco Christian and won fourteen to seven. As the weather started to heat up, so did the Pioneers, six different goal scorers and total team effort in the win today.
Pioneers attack was led by Sophia Veltre scored four goals and one assist, Emily Markel scored three goals, Bailor White scored three goals and two assists, Beylse scored two goals, Lily Hunsberger scored a goal and assist, and Brielle Bauman scored a goal. Pioneers strong attack from Emerson Gruver who had an assist, Sami Anderson, and Lola Mariner.
Pioneers had thirteen draw control possessions, twenty two ground ball pick ups, and twenty six shots on goal.
Pioneers defense was led by goalie Ashlyn Koelzer with two saves. Pioneers defense caused four turnovers. Pioneers had good communication and strong defense from Jenna Detweiler, Amanda Moyer also had an assist in the game, Maddie Gendron, Avery Goldcamp, and Maya Hannum.
Pioneers strong performance today contributed to focus, energy, high intensity, and team work on both sides of the ball. Pioneers have continued to develop and are working hard together as team, today that effort paid off in a strong performance by all players on the team. Exciting how we are continuing to improve each game and getting stronger in our game play.
Next game is away on Tuesday, league opponent, at Jenkintown, Varsity game is 3:45pm and JV game is 5pm. Pioneers are 3-5 overall and 1-0 in BAL.
