Daniel Ringenberg has been able to use each race as a proving ground for how much he has improved in less than one year.
The senior captain made his boldest statement of the season on Hershey as the lone Dock entry in the Foundation Invitational. It was the fourth year in which Ringenberg has run the Foundation meet, and last year he posted a finish of 20:52.
Running again on the course that will be used in November for the state championship, Ringenberg went up against his fellow Single-A school competitors and placed 59th in 18:56, nearly two full minutes better than a year ago.
His finish is the fastest Foundation meet time for a Dock runner since Matt Birch ran 18:54 in 2018.
Dock cross country will compete next at the site of the District 1 meet in the Paul Short Run on Friday.
