Five Dock finishers enjoyed strong performances to start the championship portion of the cross country season.
Marlyse Giesbrecht, Bobby Jo Dodds and Daniel Ringenberg all medaled with top-10 finishes at the Bicentennial Athletic League Championship at Tyler State Park on Wednesday. And all five had encouraging times as they prepare for the district meet.
Giesbrecht placed third overall in the BAL girls race. The senior co-captain took 1:16 off her top time at Tyler a year ago to finish in 22:38.
Dodds was fourth. The senior dropped an astounding 1:52 off her time at Tyler five weeks earlier in a regular season meet to run 23:13 despite a limited week of training since a foot injury.
Maddy Churches returned to racing. The junior co-captain placed 11th after just a week of training. She ran 25:14, an improvement over her only other race this season back in early September.
Ringenberg also dropped major time in his final crack at Tyler. The senior captain placed eighth in 17:55, an improvement of 1:44 from five weeks earlier on the same course. It’s his second fastest 5k time ever.
Aaron Sensenig pushed hard start to finish to place 17th overall. The sophomore ran 19:43, a 31-second improvement over his time a year ago in his first BAL Championships at Tyler.
Dock tries to continue its development at the District 1 Championships at Lehigh on Friday morning, Oct. 28. The top two teams plus the next 10 individuals outside of the qualifying teams will advance to the state championships.
