Boys Varsity Cross Country vs. Multiple Opponents @ Dutchmen Invitational 9/7

1 month ago @ 2:36PM
Game Date
Sep 7, 2024

The Dock boys cross country team challenged themselves with a huge field of mostly AAA-sized schools and put together a strong team performance. The Pioneers placed 25th as a team at the Dutchmen Invitational in the high school boys race that featured more than 300 finishers.

Aaron Sensenig paced the Pioneers. The senior captain placed 126th in 19 minutes, 3.6 seconds. The time was an improvement of 1:33 over his finish a year ago on the same course for another encouraging result. The next three Dock finishers came through in a six-second blur. Xander Morsby used a huge kick over the final 250 meters to run 21:37.6 and place 241st in his second high school cross country race. Two of the runners he passed on his way in were his teammates. Josh Frederick started quickly and pushed hard to the finish, a 21:43.7 clocking for 251st place. The junior ran just over 2:00 faster than a year ago at the Dutchmen, a testament to his commitment to improving his fitness since a year ago. Frederick was only 2-tenths of a second ahead of Ryan Ykoruk. The freshman in his second varsity race hung tough through the 3.1 miles to record a new personal best of 21:43.9 for 252nd place.
Dock would not have scored as a team without the debut of Jinyang Li. The junior completed his first varsity cross country race in 24:06.6 after a blazing fast first 1,000 meters. He placed 301st and gave the Pioneers a fifth finisher – the minimum number of finishers needed to score as a team.

Dock will get its first look at the Bicentennial Athletic League competition when they compete Thursday 9/12 at Tyler State Park in their next meet.
