The Dock boys cross country team came away with four new personal records at the Whippets Cross Country Invitational hosted by Downingtown West High on Saturday. The Pioneers placed 17th in the team standings, ahead of Bicentennial Athletic League member Phil-Mont Christian and ahead of Cardinal O’Hara. The meet featured a number of AA and AAA schools, and this was the first time that Dock had entered the Whippets meet.
Aaron Sensenig took almost 30 seconds off his best time. The senior captain ran 18:31.84 for 74th place. Fellow senior James Steinmetz also lowered his best time. He knocked 25 seconds off his previous best to run 18:48.75 and place 88th. Only a couple of ticks separated Dock’s next two finishers. Xander Morsby lowered his best to 20:38.91. The sophomore continues to show his strength each race. He placed 132nd. Ryan Ykoruk was just behind and had the largest time drop of any Pioneer runner. The freshman improved more than a full minute to lower his new best to 20:40.72 for 133rd place. The Pioneers would not have scored as a team without a fifth finisher, and Josh Frederick returned from limited practice time due to injury to run 21:45.25 for 145th place.
Dock will have a limited number of runners available due to mini-term for its next race Monday 9/23 at Rose Tree Park. The Pioneers will compete at Rose Tree in the second BAL meet of the year.
