The five-some of Tyler Derstein, Sam Laux, Dylan Gable, Nathan Lapp and Sean Gillespie had a beautiful day to play 18 holes at Turtle Creek for the District Championship. The team battled against a tough New Hope team with Tyler Derstein scoring a round of 79 over 18 holes. This is Derstein's lowest score of 18 in his high school tournament play history and tied for the lowest score of District 1 AA play. The team rounded out the match with Nathan Lapp 86, Sam Laux 88, Sean Gillespie 92 and Dylan Gable 92. Dock was unable to move forward to States losing to a strong New Hope Solebury team. Congratulations to New Hope for moving on and sending 2 individual qualifiers to States.
Dylan Gable closed out his individual district run representing Dock well but not progressing to the state tournament. This was a banner year for Dock Golf fielding a team of 14 golfers with consistently improving and lowering scores each match.
Some season highlights:
- 5 golfers averaged 44 or below for 9 holes.
- Team score average of 214, this is 24 strokes lower than the closest team average going back 8 years.
- Historic low match of 194.
- Undefeated in league matches
- Overall 10 wins 2 loses
Addition of Kirby Martin to the coaching staff brought the whole program up. He was a significant contributor to the individual and team growth. Not just teaching how to play but how to score.
Great group of players who were competitive with each other but assisted each other as well. We look forward to continuing this success with some strong juniors and continue to build a robust program for years to come.
