The Dock boys and girls track and field teams faced trial by fire in the first meet of the season.
The Pioneers competed at the North Penn Open that featured more than 40 teams, many of them AAA. The top competition was a challenge for Dock, but the experience will help going forward into the season.

Bennett Briggs had a strong day for the boys. Briggs had a promising debut in the boys long jump with an 18-6.25 mark. The district qualifying mark is 19-feet. Cade Jackson jumped 17-2. Briggs also posted the fastest Dock time of the day, 56.56 seconds, in the boys 400. Xander Morsby ran 57.66 seconds, and Isaac Snedigar ran 1:04.76. Luke Smeland threw 83-5 in boys discus. The senior captain also had a 119-9 javelin toss.

Jackson cleared 5-foot-4 in the boys high jump first, but then Marques Brown topped it with a 5-6 clearance in their first competition.
Morsby led the way in the boys triple jump with a 37-11.5 debut. Johnson posted a 35-11.5.

Aaron Sensenig opened the season with a personal-best 2:26.39 in the boys 800. Ryan Ykoruk ran 2:38.48 after beginning his track career with a 5:35.76 finish in the boys 1,600 meters.

Roman Kurian ran 51.28 in the boys 300 hurdles. The boys 4x800 relay of Sensenig, Ykoruk, Snedigar and Kurian ran 10:21.19.

Johnson ran 12.34 seconds, Brown clocked 12.41 and Jackson ran 13.10 in the boys 100-meter dash.
In the boys 200 meters, Morsby ran 24.47 seconds, Briggs did 24.73 and Jackson ran 26.56.

Dock will be at home to host the Tom Putera Invitational on Saturday. The meet is named for the former volunteer track and field assistant coach and parent who passed away unexpectedly in 2022 from a heart issue.
