The Dock boys and girls track and field teams competed for the first time at the Whippets Invitational at Downingtown West on Saturday. The field of larger schools helped the Pioneers to several bests as they head into the final four weeks of the season.

Xander Morsby medaled in fifth place in the boys triple jump with a 39-feet-5 effort, just an inch off his best. Myles Johnson finished 10th at 36-0.5, a season’s best.

Luke Smeland threw a new personal best of 36-8 in the boys shot put for 17th place. The mark solidifies his third-place ranking in District 1 AA boys. The senior captain was 15th in the javelin with a 106-7 toss. He sent the boys discus a PR of 91-3 as well to move to seventh in the district rankings.

In the boys 200 meters to finish the meet, Morsby ran 24.31 seconds, Bennett Briggs ran 24.76 and Roman Kurian ran another huge PR of 24.79. They competed early in the 100 meters. Morsby went a personal-record 11.84 to climb to seventh in the district standings, Kurian crushed his old best with a 11.96 clocking that puts him 12th in the district and Briggs ran 12.29. Johnson also ran in the 100, finishing in 12.67 seconds.

Briggs hit 17-5.5 in the boys long jump for 17th place. Briggs ran 57.20 seconds in the boys 400. Morsby ran 1:00.33.

Aaron Sensenig ran a season-best 5:19.33 in the boys 1,600 meters. Ryan Ykoruk ran 5:33.20 in the boys novice 1,600. Both came back to do the 800 with Sensenig going a personal-best 2:23.63 and Ykoruk posting a 2:40.39 clocking.

The team returns to competition on Thursday at Pennridge for the Helman Invitational. The Henderson Invitational comes Friday and Saturday.
