The Dock track and field teams may not have finished atop the Bicentennial Athletic League Championships standings, but setting almost 30 bests gave the Pioneers plenty to celebrate.
Dock hosted the BAL Championships on Wednesday and Thursday and ideal conditions made for some great throwing, jumping and running as most of the Dock athletes saw improvement in at least one of their events.
The Pioneers had 12 bests on the boys side to take sixth with 46 points.
Xander Morsby won a pair of individual medals on the boys side.
The Pioneers took time to honor their five seniors at the end of the first day’s competition. Dock recognized Sadie Bernd, Lizzie Chalmers-Kennard, Yebeen Lee, Aaron Sensenig and Luke Smeland.
The boys also had a good start on the first day of competition.

Luke Smeland threw 38-2.75 for fourth in the boys shot put to gain five points for the boys.
All three entrants into the boys 100-meter dash came away with personal bests. Morsby ran 11.68 seconds to qualify for finals, Roman Kurian hit 11.86 to advance as well in a tie for the final spot, and Johnson finished in 12.23 seconds.

In the field on the second day, Smeland came through for fourth in the boys javelin with a throw of 130-9. The senior captain threw a PR of 106-10 for fifth in the discus that moves him to eighth in the district. Briggs went 15-3.25 in the long jump.
Kurian had a big drop to lower his 300-meter hurdles best to 46.83 for fourth place running out of the slower heat. He sits sixth in the district. Briggs ran 48.25 for sixth.
Morsby took eighth in the 100 in 11.91 seconds and Kurian was 12th in 12.02. Morsby is 11th in the district rankings. He came back later to run a personal-record 23.49 for third in the 200. The sophomore ranks fourth in the district.
In the boys 1,600, Aaron Sensenig ran a season best of 5:12.51 for 11th place. He came back to just miss his PR in the 800 with a 2:23.83 clocking.
The boys finished off their meet with Morsby, Kurian, Briggs and Snedigar running 3:57.14 for seventh place.
