Xander Morsby advanced to the state championship in the boys triple jump.

The Dock boys were sixth as well with 35 points.

Morsby came into Saturday’s second day of districts as the No. 2 seed in the district. The sophomore in his first year in the event jumped just over 40-feet on his third jump. In his first of three jumps in the finals, Morsby put together a mark of 40-feet-7.25, which held up by an inch-and-a-quarter to win the district title and earn his first trip to the state championship. Morsby also took seventh in the boys 200 meters in 24.68 seconds and 11th in the boys 100 in 12.03 seconds.

Luke Smeland landed on the podium in all three throws in his final district meet. The senior captain battled through a knee injury for fourth in the boys discus at a personal best of 109-feet-6, took fifth in the boys javelin with a throw of 130-3 and placed sixth in the boys shot put at 36-9.

Bennett Briggs was fourth in the boys 300 hurdles in 47.95 seconds while Roman Kurian ran 50.39 for fifth place. Briggs took eighth in the boys long jump at 16-feet-8.75.
The Pioneer boys 4x800 relay of Briggs, Kurian, Ryan Ykoruk and Isaac Snedigar ran 10:07.02 for eighth place.
The season will continue with Morsby competing in the state championship Saturday morning at Shippensburg University.
