The Dock boys and girls track and field teams competed for the first time at the Whippets Invitational at Downingtown West on Saturday. The field of larger schools helped the Pioneers to several bests as they head into the final four weeks of the season.
In the field, rain made for slippery conditions but Yebeen Lee had another solid day. The senior was third in the girls javelin with a throw of 96-feet-10. Godshall was close to her PR at 73-8 for sixth place.
Lee was sixth in the girls discus with a throw of 80-1.5 to climb to third in the District 1 AA girls rankings. Logan Naidoo threw a personal-best 59-5.5 for 15th place. Lee was ninth in the girls shot put with a personal-best throw of 27-5 that puts her into second place in the district rankings.
The girls 4x800 relay of Tessa Moyer, Lydia Sensenig, Claire Nyce and Karli Godshall was third in 11:15.15.
Moyer was 12th in the girls 1,600 meters in 5:45.76. Sensenig was the 14th seed in the first of four heats, but the freshman was 19th overall when she dropped 26 seconds off her personal best to run 6:02.11.
Nyce made her debut in the girls 400 meters with a 1:17.31 clocking, only minutes after completing the 4x800 relay. Nyce ran 3:00.19 in the girls 800 meters. Godshall posted a personal record of 3:08.55 in the girls 800.
Lizzie Kennard-Chalmers was 15th in a sizable drop to a personal record of 21.24 seconds in the girls 100-meter hurdles. Lily Price ran 21.49 for 18th. Both also did long jump with Price hitting 12-4 and Kennard-Chalmers 10-9.5.
Cianna Thompson was 13th in a personal best of 15.33 seconds and Naidoo was 20th in 15.74 seconds in the girls 100 meters. Thompson came back to run 33.19 in the girls 200 meters.
The team returns to competition on Thursday at Pennridge for the Helman Invitational. The Henderson Invitational comes Friday and Saturday.
