Bowling vs. Collegium Charter School

Pioneers Lose: -
Dock’s last match of the season included the team’s best bowling. Personal bests and team bests dominated. The games themselves were easily won which allowed Dock to finish securely in second place. Game totals were all well over the team game average of 780 with two games over 900. (867, 948, 960) The match total amounted to more that 450 pins over the team’s match average. These totals were all achieved by bowlers finding their personal bests in this match. Seth Alderfer rolled a 199 and followed it with a 204. Logan Sell rolled 203 in the first and third games. Zeke Longacre topped it all with his series: 208, 280, 225. To bowl a 280, every frame is a strike except for one! His total of 713 is only the second over 700 in the BAL this season. A season ending like this was a lot of fun and shows the potential the team holds for next year!

Boys Varsity Bowling Defeats Morrisville Boro Ms/High School on Senior Day

Dock celebrated seniors at our match against Morrisville. Each senior was a starter in one of the 2 first games and then bowled all together as JV for the third game. Each was honored with some comments and gifts after the match. The 5 seniors on the team are all first-year bowlers who have been great additions to the team. Their desire to learn and enjoyment of being on the team have been greatly appreciated. The match itself consisted of 3 games that were a little too close most of the way but ended with Dock wins. (4-0) This will be important for the team to stand solidly in second place at the end of the season.  Notable score: Zeke Longacre 212
Boys Varsity Bowling vs. Bristol High School

On Thursday 12/21, Dock teams bowled against the BAL powerhouse, Bristol. We knew it would be tough to get any wins from them, but there was a spark of hope going in. If the team can put together a good game, a win will be possible. However, the team also fought against lane conditions that kept them from doing their best. They worked hard and really tried, but it was tough going. Zeke finally had a high score in the last game - 223 to complete a 555 series. Bristol’s Dillon Samuels had a 230 in the first game; Declan DeLong rolled 215 and 213, and Liam Feeney had a 662 series with 216, 213, and 233. We look forward to getting another chance on our home lanes on January 11.

The Dock Boys went in ready to face interesting lane conditions and do the adjusting needed to be successful. The first 2 games were easy wins, but as the lane oil was breaking down, the needed changes became harder to find. Dock won the last game by only 50 pins after a concerted effort was made to rally a long series of marks using contributions from the whole team. It was definitely the thing they needed. Great work, team! Notable scores: Zeke Longacre 207, 208 / Logan Sell 181
Boys Varsity Bowling vs. Bristol High School

Dock’s home meeting against Bristol was guaranteed to be a challenge, but one we wanted to surmount. One win against them would have been epic. Having Tuesday’s match canceled for weather hurt our preparation, and other little things worked against our mental game. Every game against Bristol was close for a time. Bowlers tried their hardest to put together high scores and some did. Bristol bowlers were struggling on our lanes which is part of what we were counting on, but Dock could not take advantage of this open door. Every game was lost by less than 200 pins. No one gets that close to Bristol. We’ll get them next year! Notable scores: Justin Detweiler 191, Zeke Longacre 192

Dock faced some good competition against Collegium Charter on Tuesday. Each game started out close but ended with Dock on top by a wide margin. Collegium’s Brendan Suter started the match with a 205 but lost his momentum after that. Logan Sell ended the match with a 187. Zeke Longacre kept up his bowling with a 598 series (196, 197, 205). This was the first match that all four junior starters were in attendance, and their experience showed with the team averaging over 800 for the 3 games. Here’s hoping that success like that will continue.
Boys Varsity Bowling vs. Renaissance Academy Charter School

Pioneers Win: 2162.00 - 1372.00
Bowling against the still-building Renaissance Academy gave Dock the chance to improve on last week’s scores. With two of the juniors out sick, each of the JV bowlers had a chance in a varsity game. Dock won every game easily and listed some nice scores as well. Zeke Longacre achieved a personal-best series of 664. Fantastic bowling!  Next week we focus on practice and improved health so that the following week’s matches will continue to be successes. 12/19 - home against Collegium Charter School; 12/21 - away again Bristol - our biggest league challenge.   Notable scores: Logan Sell 196, Zeke Longacre 205,235,224 = 664 series
Boys Varsity Bowling vs. Church Farm School

Pioneers Win: 2314.00 - 1919.00
Church Farm School was probably our closest competition last season but lost several seniors. We never know what we'll see on first meetings. This year's team did not give us much to worry about. With Seth Alderfer out sick, 2 new seniors (Justin Detweiler and Dylan Gable) had the chance to bowl in varsity games and did a nice job. Liam Connor took the lead with his scores in this match, the team won each game by more than 100 pins. It feels good to start the season with these wins.   Notable scores: Liam Connor 195, Zeke Longacre 191
