Pioneers opened up the field hockey season with hosting non league game vs Upper Dublin on a hot and humid night, but that didn't stop the Pioneers from capitalizing on their opportunities and beating Upper Dublin three to one.
Pioneers outstanding play from forwards Ellie Crissman, Scarlett Derstine, Paige Hinnershitz, and Aubrey Clemmer. Pioneers had eighteen shots on goal. Pioneers midfielders set up a lot of the attack Sadie Bernd, Sophia Veltre, Ashlyn Koelzer, and Beylse Landis and making opportunities happen. Pioneers also had fourteen offensive corners.
Strong defense from Lydia Ehst, Olivia Mozzone and Avery Goldcamp.
Pioneers goalie Maddie Afanador was consistent with saving three shots and stepping up when she needed to, to stop the play.
Pioneers goals scored by Lydia Ehst in first quarter, (2:04) assisted by Sadie Bernd, Sadie Bernd in third quarter with no time left on the clock, assisted by Beylse Landis, and last goal was scored by Scarlett Derstine (4:25) assisted by Lydia Ehst.
