On Friday, August 30, Pioneers Field Hockey hosted league opponent Delaware County. Pioneers came ready to play and won four to two, on a day to kick off the holiday weekend.
Pioneers continued to play out in the game as they continue to work together as a unit.
Pioneers first goal was scored in the first quarter by Sadie Bernd (11:20) and assisted by Aubrey Clemmer. Dock's goal in the second quarter was scored by Paige Hinnershitz (11:32) and assisted by Sophia Veltre. Paige Hinnershitz (9:08) scored another in the third assisted by Ellie Crissman. The final goal was scored in the fourth quarter by Ellie Crissman (1:20) and assisted by Aubrey Clemmer.
Delco scored just two goals, in the second and third quarter, and had three penalty corners, and six shots on goal. Goalie Juliet Jackson made eight saves on the day.
Pioneers attack was led by Aubrey Clemmer, Ellie Crissman, Paige Hinnershitz, and Scarlett Derstine. Combined, they had twelve shots on goal and nine offensive penalty corners. Midfield was led by Sophia Veltre, Sadie Bernd, Ashlyn Koelzer, Beylse Landis, and Daniella Slater-Miller. Defense was led by Lydia Ehst, Olivia Mozzone, and Avery Goldcamp.
Pioneers goalie Madison Afanador made four saves in the game. Pioneers next game is Wednesday, home against league opponent Faith, at 3:30pm.
