On a beautiful sunny afternoon, the Pioneers of Dock Mennonite Academy HS hosted Faith Christian in a BAL league game. In what was a thrilling game, played by both sides, the Pioneers lost in overtime 1-0 of what was a fast paced and highly skilled match up.Pioneers goalie, Madison Afanadar made eight saves, including some diving aerial saves. Madison played outstanding the whole game, with her angles on and her kicking saves outside the circle. Pioneers defender Lydia Ehst even made a defensive save.Pioneers had eight offensive penalty corners, along with eight shots on goal. Pioneers offense was carried by Paige Hinnershitz, Scarlett Derstine, Ellie Crissman, Aubrey Clemmer and Mary Ellen Picariello.Pioneers midfielders set up a lot of attack in the game led by Sophia Veltre, Sadie Bernd, Ashlyn Koelzer, Daniella Slater-Miller and Beylse Landis.Pioneers strong defense was led by Lydia Ehst, Avery Goldcamp, and Olivia Mozzone.Faith had eight offensive penalty corners, nine shots on goal, and goalie Rylie Hetherington saved eight shots in goal. Faith's goal was scored by Gracie Longacre in OT (7:00).Pioneers record is 2-1 overall and 1-1 in BAL, Pioneers next nonleague game is Friday vs Pope John Paul. 5:30pm is Junior Varsity and 7pm is Varsity.
