On a beautiful Thursday afternoon, Pioneers field hockey hosted Bristol for a BAL league match up. Pioneers won seven to zero.
Pioneers strong scoring opportunities came in the second quarter, led by Paige Hinnershitz (11:42) assisted by Sophia Veltre, Scarlett Derstine (10:09) assisted by Sadie Bernd, Lydia Ehst (7:11) assisted by Sadie Bernd on a corner, Aubrey Clemmer (no time left on the clock) assisted by Sadie Bernd, and Beylse Landis on a corner.
In the third quarter, Pioneers goal-scorers were Scarlett Derstine (12:32) assisted by Aubrey Clemmer, and Beylse Landis (4:15) assisted by Aubrey Clemmer. In the fourth quarter, Sophia Veltre (11:48) assisted by Sadie Bernd on a corner gave us the final goal. Ellie Crissman also contributed many positive things to our offensive front.
Pioneers had seventeen shots on goal and nine offensive corners. Midfielders who helped contribute to strong attack were Sophia Veltre, Beylse Landis, Daniella Slater-Miller, Ashlyn Koelzer, Sadie Bernd, Natalie Fabrizio and Lydia Sensenig.
Pioneers goalie Madison Afanador and Lily Kulp earned the shut out and had no shots on goal. Strong defense from Lydia Ehst, Avery Goldcamp, Laura Charles, and Olivia Mozzone also helped secure the shutout.
Pioneers next game is Friday away against Academy of New Church for non league match up, Varsity 3:45pm and Junior Varsity 5pm
