On a beautiful crisp fall night, the Pioneers of Dock Mennonite Academy, hosted senior night against league opponent Plumstead Christian. Pioneers won two to zero.
It was a night to remember as the Pioneers honored their two field hockey seniors, Sadie Bernd and Paige Hinnershitz, along with Plumstead's five seniors as well. Pioneers had six offensive shots and four offensive penalty corners. Pioneers offensive front was led by Ellie Crissman, Scarlett Derstine, Aubrey Clemmer, and Ashlyn Koelzer. Pioneers goals were scored in the second and third quarter. In the second quarter, Ellie Crissman (7:02) assisted by Scarlett Derstine and in the third quarter, Beylse Landis (8:50) assisted by Sophia Veltre.
Pioneers midfield attack came from Sadie Bernd, Sophia Veltre, Natalie Fabrizio, Daniella Slater-Miller and Beylse Landis. Pioneers goalie, Madison Afanador made three saves on the night and was credited with the shut out. Strong defensive play from Lydia Ehst, Avery Goldcamp and Olivia Mozzone.
Pioneers want to take a moment and honor our two captain seniors Sadie Bernd and Paige Hinnershitz. They each played four years on the Dock field hockey team, and have both worked hard in the off season to develop their skills and proven through their play throughout the season this year. Thank you for all you have given to the program both on and off the field. You both will be missed next year!
Pioneers next game is away at Bristol, Varsity - 3:45pm game start and JV - 5pm game start.
