Pioneers hosted Nazareth Academy for our first home night game, during the night we experienced a lot of weather conditions, from sunny to drizzle to pouring rain, to super windy. Pioneers lost 10 to 5 to Nazareth.
Pioneers were led by goalie Jenayah Alvarado Vanegas. She was stellar in goal, saving 10 shots, and continuing to stop shots all night long! She stepped up for the challenge and wouldn't be denied. Pioneers defense caused 5 turnovers, including an interception from Maddie Gendron. Strong defense from Olivia Veltre, Amanda Moyer, Ava Dunn and Daniella Slater-Miller.
Pioneers offensive was led by Abby Mellinger who had 2 goals on the night, Sophie Veltre also scored 2 goals and Mary-Ellen Picariello scored 1 goal. Pioneers had 27 shots on goal, 26 ground ball pick ups, and 8 draw controls. Also contributing strong offense from Tess Bergey, Jenna Detweiler, who also had an assist, Emerson Gruver, Brielle Bauman, and Sam Anderson. Pioneers also had 9 eight meter shots on the offensive end.
Pioneers Aubrey Clemmer also returned from an injury early in preseason and played in her first game of the season.
Pioneers will head on the road on Tuesday, 4/16, when we face BAL opponent Jenkintown for a day game at 3:45pm.
