Thursday night in Longacre Gym was a special night for the Girls Volleyball program with a full gym and lots of buzz. Facing a Renaissance team who previously swept Dock 3-0 just a few weeks earlier, Dock came out fearless and Senior led straight into battle. After slow starts each of the first two sets, the Seniors stepped up in every way and battled right back to fight till the last point.
Brooke Hondros led the team with great defense, earning a HUGE Ace at the service line and even a play off the face when her lovely teammate Jenna Detweiler decided to kick it in her face! That play is already an instant classic! Jenna served a flawless game at the service line, then earned a big kill out of the middle and capped it off with a BIG block at the net! Aubrey Gahman got up out of the middle also and showed the big softball arm off with some impressive swings out of the middle including the MATCH WINNING kill smoking it by the defense. She also served great from behind the line and got her team on many runs throughout the night. Dana Delamater had some great swings at the Outside pin and a BOMB from the back row earning her team a point. Most impressively was her defense leading the team with 10 digs, flying around everywhere to make sure no ball hit the floor! Rounding out the seniors on this special night was team captain Lela Martin who played a near flawless game all around. She led her team on big service runs when called upon, led the team in kills with 9, and had a great hitting percentage of .229, yet Brooke still led the team by hitting .500!! Not too bad for a defensive specialist! Couldn't be more proud of this group of seniors and the way they have pushed this team to new heights this year and capped the last home game off with a huge 5-set win in front of the biggest crowd all season!
