Distance Night has winning pair

While many athletes competed in the Putera field events, others were running on the track at Distance Night at Dock. The Pioneers had a pair of event winners. Daniel Ringenberg capped the evening with an outdoor track personal-record 17:31.82 in the boys 5,000 meters despite strong, cold windy conditions. Liv Moyer won the girls 3,200 meters in a season-best 12:37.48.
Sadie Bernd began the Distance Night meet by placing second in the girls 1,600 meters in a season-best 5:58.21. Michael Pustay ran 5:39.20 in the boys 1,600.
Gretchen German hit a new personal best of 2:41.88 for second place in the girls 800 meters. Bernd ran 2:44.52 for another season best.
Drew Bauman went out hard and just missed a new personal record in the boys 800 when he ran 2:26.97. Josh Ohm ran 2:29.47 for second place in the second heat of the 800. Josh Frederick ran 2:37.71 and Pustay clocked 2:39.58.
The Pioneers return to action Friday at Abington High for the Jack Armstrong Invitational.
