Boys Varsity Tennis vs. Phil-Mont Christian School

Pioneers Lose: -
The boys tennis team played a hard-fought match against Phil-Mont yesterday. Everyone on the team each played one of their best matches of the season. Josiah Davidar played the top spot and had a great start until PM #1 took control of the match and fell 8-2. Nolan Vaszily played his match of the year by far at the #3 singles slot. With a lot of great slices to trip up his opponent and locating the ball with accuracy, Nolan took a point for Dock with an 8-3 win.   The 1st doubles duo of John O’Donnell and Andrew Silva moved well throughout the court all match. Their volleys from on point from beginning to end and made it hard for a talented opponent to get much back. Dock took their 2nd point of the match with the doubles win. Dock would not be able to getting the winning 3rd point and fell to Phil-Mont 3-2.   Dock has 5 remaining home games in their schedule, including Senior Night versus Springfield, April 27 at 5 p.m.

Boys Tennis falls short vs. LC (3-21-23) Dock: 1 LC: 4   Dock kicked off their season at home against Lansdale Catholic and all five starters gave a good showing in their first ever varsity matches. Sophomore, Pablo Gazquez Castilla played an outstanding match against LC’s top singles player. Although it was not Pablo’s best day of serving, he played a consistent, level-headed match even when during the frustrating points of the match and took Dock’s sole point with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Nolan Vaszily took on a tough, left-handed opponent in the second singles slot and battled all the way to the end, but came up short. John O’Donnell took on an identical version of himself at 3rd singles. Both players are athletic and scrappy and can get to just about every ball you put on the court. A lot of exciting points were played, but came up short in his first career match. John and the rest of the team found some good experience and lessons to use as the season progresses. Syed Shezhad and Sam Wang took the court as Dock’s 1st Doubles team and played some nice points at net and showed nice improvement from the first set to the second. It was a good start to the season as the team gave a really nice effort, and now prepare BAL matches ahead.
