Justin Feil.

Head Coach

Biography:

Head Coach Justin Feil has been hooked on running since his senior year of high school and shares that joy with Dock’s runners. After qualifying for the district championships that year, he began road racing through college and eventually qualified as a college senior for his first Boston Marathon. Coach Feil has completed the Boston Marathon 24 times, including 23 years in a row.

A two-time Bicentennial Athletic League Coach of the Year, Coach Feil aims to guide and motivate student-athletes through the process of learning to seek their potential, to help the team reach its highest level of achievement possible, and to send Dock graduates off with a lifelong passion for running. Under Feil's leadership, the Pioneer girls won the 2019 and 2020 district championships, Tim Kennel was individual boys district champion in 2016, and Michael Gunden was the individual boys district champion in 2015.

Coach Feil enjoys welcoming a wider variety of runners in the spring as the distance running coach for the Dock boys and girls track and field teams. His coaching experience also includes working as the boys’ basketball assistant varsity coach at The Hun School of Princeton for more than 20 years. During that time, the team has won a Prep A state championship, three Mid-Atlantic Prep League championships, and four MAPL regular season championships and produced dozens of college players.

Coach Feil is a freelance writer who is a regular contributor to USA Lacrosse Magazine as well as several publications in the Princeton, New Jersey area. In his free time he enjoys pick-up basketball as a sort of cross-training to running. He is married to Michelle Feil and has coached their three children (ages 20, 18, and 15) in various sports – soccer, basketball, and softball. He is also a youth group advisor at Abington Presbyterian Church.
