Dock wins rematch for repeat championship   Last season Dock faced Southern Lehigh for the district championship and won 3-1. This time around Dock faced the same school and had the same results, a 3-1 win. The match's first set banged back and forth with no team taking a big lead until Dock blocking game emerged. Several huge blocks gave Dock a set 1 victory 25-15. Set 2 started much the same. Dock had big blocks but Southern Lehigh kept coming with big offense and strong defense off the net. Dock held a smaller lead until a 25-20 victory. Set 3 did not seem the same as the first two. Southern Lehigh had some great serves, blocks, and swings while Dock found themselves out of system and scrapping for points. The set ended with Souther Lehigh’s win 21-25. Then came the deciding and commanding 4th set. Dock grabbed the lead with some huge kills on the right side and served like district champs, smashing Southern Lehigh 25-13 for a convincing set win and match win.   Dock totaled 17 stuff blocks lead by Sean Gillespie and Cameron LeSuer with 4 each. Dock also had 51 kills lead by the same two with Sean’s 14 and Cameron’s 13 followed closely by Anthony Bernardo’s 11 and Dylan Gable’s 7. Dock managed 3 aces and 54 digs lead by Lane Bergey and Stellan Derstine with 13 digs each.   Well done Dock and now States. Dock will host the first round of States at our Longacre gym Tuesday at 7pm.

Dock Wins Dallastown Tournament   It’s been a long time since Dock boys won a varsity volleyball tournament. This time it was not a walk in the park. But a character of hard work and determination is getting ahold of these boys. In several pool play matches we found ourselves down and stuck in rotations only to have a huge play give us the rebound to capture the momentum. Dock ended pool play with an 8-0 set record and a first place in our pool. After watching the first round and enjoying our buy, Dock entered playoffs with a renewed desire to play to our best. The first challenge was Palmyra. Dock took an early lead and continued to play with that lead to a 25-16 win and a ticket to the finals. We watched Haverford loss to Calico, noticing that Calico was on a role. We opened our finals with our best net play of the season. Big blocks, big kills, and winning jousts; it was awesome. Set one score was 25-21. But the fun was just beginning. Calico took the early lead in set two but Dock was not done yet. We made a run to tie the score at 23 and the next serveral plays were simply a joy to volleyball fans. The kills, the blocks, the serves; just great volleyball. Dock ended up getting the win on a service ace with the final score 31-29.   Well done - so rewarding to see our work as a team turn into this win.   in the final two sets of the playoff championship, dock had 31 kills, 4 aces, 6 blocks, and 14 digs   Tournament totals: 134 kills, 22 aces, 97 digs, 16 blocks,

Dock went into tonight’s match versus Haverford knowing the league title was on the line. The atmosphere was loud and the volleyball was intense. Dock opened the match winning set one 25-23 and set two 25-20. Dock was winning the ball control and dominating the middle of the net. Then came set three lead by Haverford’s outside hitters and jump servers. Dock worked hard to win in spite of the noise and the great Haverford play but dropped set three 16-25. At this point the gym got even louder. Our Dock boys stayed in it and and had some moments where Dock looked like the set winner but we fell short and dropped set four 23-25.  Set five was the highlight. Every kill by Haverford was equaled by Dock and every dig by Haverford was equaled by Dock. Dock fell behind in the 15 point set 14-11 and Dock had the serve. We scrapped and outplayed Haverford to tie the set at 14. The momentum switch was key and Dock went on to win the set 16-14 and the match 3-2. Great determination and grip Dock. Congratulations on the likely league title   Dock had 61 kills, 8 aces, 39 digs and 5 blocks.
