Pioneers Lose: 1 - 19
5/17/2023  Dock Lacrosse    Pioneers - 1  Bishop Shanahan - 19    Pioneers lacrosse team headed into the first round of districts today against Bishop Shanahan High School in Downingtown and lost nineteen to one.  Tough lost for the Pioneers as this ends our season.     Pioneers were led by Kenzie Derstine who scored one goal, Abby Mellinger had two shots on goal, and Olivia Zaskoda also had a shot on goal.  Pioneers had five draw possessions and four ground ball pick ups.  Pioneers goalie Haley Harper made four saves. Pioneers end their season with a record of ten wins and eight losses and finished third in the league.     Though our season ended today we remember the great memories we made this season and how hard we worked to reach our goals this year, we had great team spirit with positive attitudes, everyone to score a goal, give hundred percent effort in practices and games, and communicate effectively.     We want to remember our seniors - Kenzie Derstine, Olivia Zaskoda, Megan Wenzel, Kayla Godshall, Haley Harper, and Marina Ferrier Genoves. It was just three years ago that this program has started and each year we have gotten stronger and reached district playoffs each of those years - Congratulations and thank you for all your efforts over the last three years to make the program great, you will be missed!   We also want to thank our team mom's - Renae Derstine, Charity Veltre, and Laurel Harper - who helped organize and be there for our team functions, senior night, snacks, games, and snack stand.  Thank you to all the parents and fans who came out to our games this year, its been exciting to watch this team develop and succeed on many levels, thank you for the support.  Thank you to the athletic staff who set up and clean up each game and help with things that need to be done during the week and at games, its greatly appreciated.    We will always remember the 2023 Dock Lacrosse Season!

5/10/2023 Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 14   Sacred Heart - 2   On a nice spring afternoon, Pioneers played Sacred Heart Academy and won fourteen to two at Sacred Heart.     Pioneers were led by Abby Mellinger with four goals and two assists, Jenna Detweiler with two goals, Yebeen Lee with two goals, Tess Bergey with two goals, Kenzie Derstine with one goal, Emerson Gruver scored a goal, Olivia Zaskoda scored a goal and Clara Gomez-Martin with a goal.   Pioneers goalie Haley Harper had seven saves on the day.  Pioneers had nine draw possessions and twenty ground ball pick ups to Sacred Heart seven draw possessions and eleven ground ball pick ups.   Pioneers continue to play well together and keep executing good offensive plays. Solid defensive plays by Megan Wenzel, Olivia Veltre, Kayla Godshall, Clara Gomez-Martin, and Amanda Moyer.   Dock is looking forward to playing league rival Jenkintown on Thursday at Jenkintown @ 3:45pm    Dock Record - 10-6 overall and 2-3 BAL league

5/8/2023 Dock Lacrosse Pioneers - 13 Nazareth Academy - 8 On a sunny clear Monday afternoon we played non league opponent Nazareth Academy on their beautiful grass field on their senior day! Pioneers knew they were coming for a battle as they honored their ten seniors today, Pioneers were up for the challenge and played extremely well as a team and won thirteen to eight. Pioneers were led by Olivia Zaskoda with five goals, Kenzie Derstine with four goals, Abby Mellinger with two goals and two assists, Jenna Detweiler with one goal and Tess Bergey with one goal and two assists. Aubrey Clemmer added a shot on goal. Incredible saves by Haley Harper with eighteen saves on the day and made huge clutch saves in times under great pressure and made it look easy. Pioneers had ten draw possessions and fifteen ground ball pick ups and Nazareth Academy had twelve draw possessions and seventeen ground ball pick ups and Nazareth goalie made five saves. Amazing defensive inceptions by Clara Gomez-Martin who came up big in the game by intercepting two balls on Nazareth offensive breakaways. Great defense again by Megan Wenzel, Olivia Veltre, and Amanda Moyer. Pioneers are continuing to move up the ladder for rankings in AA lacrosse as we look to district playoffs and wanting to finish strong these last two games to secure a spot. We are thriving and achieving great things that show in our games and we continue to work at reaching our team goals. One player is no more important than another but together we can achieve anything! Pioneers next game is away at Sacred Heart Academy on Wednesday @ 3:45pm Dock Record - 9-6 overall - 2-3 in BAL League

5/5/2023 Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 7 Lansdale Catholic - 14   Friday night lights the Dock Lacrosse team hosted and lost to Lansdale Catholic High School fourteen to seven.   Pioneers were led by Abby Mellinger with four goals and one assist, Olivia Zaskoda had one goal and one assist, Kenzie Derstine had one goal and Tess Bergey added one goal as well. Pioneers had twelve draw possessions and Lansdale Catholic had ten draw possessions and Pioneers had seven ground ball pick ups and Lansdale Catholic had fifteen ground ball pick ups. Pioneers goalie Haley Harper had eight saves and Lansdale Catholic goalie had six saves.   Dock faces Nazareth Academy on Monday away @ 4pm    Dock Record 8-6 overall and 2-3 BAL league

5/4/2023  Dock Lacrosse    Pioneers - 12 Academy of New Church - 6   On a Thursday afternoon at Dock Mennonite Academy it started to spritz but it wasn't long before the clouds cleared and the Dock Lacrosse team was on their way to winning.  The Pioneers started out strong over the Academy of New Church and keep the lead the entire game and never looked back.  Dock beat a feisty Academy of New Church twelve to six was the final score.    Pioneers were led by Kenzie Derstine with four goals and one assist, Abby Mellinger with two goals and three assists, Megan Wenzel with two goals and one assist, Olivia Zaskoda with one goal and one assist, Tess Bergey with two goals and one assist and second Varsity goal by freshman Emerson Gruver! Pioneers are playing great lacrosse with some amazing plays on both ends of the field, if you haven't gotten the opportunity to watch this amazing team come out to a game you won't be disappointed.  Our goals of playing together as a team is really coming together, with three second left in the the first half, senior Olivia Zaskoda was fouled and on the whistle made a quick whipping pass to cutting Abby Mellinger in front of the cage and she finished with an awesome shovel shot and scored! Outstanding offensive plays by Kenzie Derstine, Abby Mellinger, Megan Wenzel, Tess Bergey and Olivia Zaskoda could be seen all afternoon, along with fascinate defense from Olivia Veltre, Kayla Godshall, and Clara Gomez-Martin. Pioneers goalie Haley Harper once again made some incredible saves that even the other team's coach commented.  Haley Harper made seven saves  Pioneers had eleven draw possessions and ten ground ball pick ups to Academy of New Church eight draw possessions and nine ground ball pickups.  Pioneers are looking forward to playing Lansdale Catholic at home @ 5:30pm on Friday, with two great games this past week, Pioneers look to continue to finish the week strong. Dock record 8-5 overall and 2-3 league

5/2/2023  Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 11 Delco - 13   On a cold and windy night, the Pioneers girls lacrosse team celebrated and honored our six seniors, Marina Ferrier Genoves, Kenzie Derstine, Kayla Godshall, Olivia Zaskoda, Megan Wenzel, and Haley Harper.  Though the pioneers lost thirteen to eleven to league rival Delco the girls still played with a lot of heart and soul.    Pioneers were led by Abby Mellinger with five goals and two shots on goal, and Olivia Zaskoda with four goals and Kenzie Derstine added two goals.  Lily Hunsberger added two assists and Tess Bergey and Jenna Detweiler each had an assist.     Pioneers goalie Haley Harper had eight saves and launched two assists in the game from amazing clears down the field that wowed the crowd!  Pioneers had ten draw possessions and eight ground ball pick ups to Delco's thirteen draw possessions and seven ground ball pick ups.     Over the past three years since our girls lacrosse program started each of our seniors played a valuable role in starting the program and working to help continue to grow the game, through their hard work and passion for the game our program has been successful and we want to celebrate our seniors and thank them for all their hard work!   Congratulations - Defender #46 - Marina Ferrier Genoves, Midfielder #22 - Kenzie Derstine, Midfielder #13 - Olivia Zaskoda, Defender #21 - Kayla Godshall , Defender #8 - Megan Wenzel and Goalie # 86 - Haley Harper   Next game Dock is hosting Thursday @ 3:45pm vs Academy of New Church    Dock Record - 7-5 overall - 2-3 league

4/28/2023  Dock Lacrosse    Pioneers - 16 Coventry Christian - 4   On a cold, rainy Friday afternoon, Pioneers hosted Coventry Christian in a non league game, Pioneers won sixteen to four in an offensive scoring afternoon.  Pioneers received goals from six different players.  Pioneers were led by Abby Mellinger with four goals and one shot on goal and Olivia Zaskoda also with four goals and one assist, Kenzie Derstine and Tess Bergey each had three goals, Jenna Detweiler also scored a goal and Emerson Gruver scored her first Varsity goal!    Pioneers goalie Haley Harper made six saves and Pioneers had eighteen draw possessions and five ground ball pick ups.  Coventry Christian goalie had three saves and they had four ground ball pick ups.     Dock continues to play well on both sides of the ball.  Dock had a few starters missing due to injuries but other players stepped up and played well today.  Strong defensive performances from Kayla Godshall, Olivia Veltre, Clara Gomez-Martin, Amanda Moyer and Marina Ferrer Fenoves. Offensive hustle from Yebeen Lee, Lily Hunsberger, and Aubrey Clemmer.    Dock is looking forward to facing Tuesday league rival Delco Christian for our Senior Night @ 6pm @ home.    Dock record - 7-4 overall and 2-2 league

Pioneers Lose: 4 - 12
5/11/2023  Dock Lacrosse  Pioneers - 4 Jenkintown - 12   Pioneers lost to Jenkintown twelve to four at Jenkintown.   Pioneers were led by Abby Mellinger with two goals and two shots on goal, Olivia Zaskoda also had a goal, and Kenzie Derstine had a goal and a shot on goal. Pioneers had ten draw possessions and eleven ground ball pick ups and Jenkintown had eight draw possessions and fourteen ground ball pick ups.  Dock goalie Haley Harper made eight strong saves and Jenkintown goalie had three saves. Pioneers are in double A and are heading to playoffs which start next week.  We are excited about going to the playoffs for the third year in a row since we started. Dock will most likely be on the road and play on Wednesday, May 17.  PIAA girls lacrosse seeding meeting is this Saturday, May 13, when we will know our final ranking.  Dock Record - 10-7 overall and 2-4 BAL league

4/24/2023 Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 17 Collegium Charter - 7   Pioneers finished strong today over league opponent Collegium Charter and won seventeen to seven.  Pioneers continued offensive scoring especially in the second half of game.  Dock was led in goals by Kenzie Derstine with five goals and five shots on goal and one assist, Abby Mellinger had four goals and two assists and Tess Bergey also had four goals and two shots on goal and one assist.  Olivia Zaskoda had three goals and one assist and Megan Wenzel had goal and assist and Emerson Gruver had two shots on goal.   Dock's goalie Haley Harper had one save and Dock had nineteen draw possessions and twenty one ground ball pick ups to Collegium's six draw possessions and seven ground ball pick ups. Dock's second half of game was strong defense from Megan Wenzel, Kayla Godshall, Olivia Veltre, Amanda Moyer and Clara Gomez-Martin.  Pioneers are continuing to develop great team play as well as running strong offensive plays in the attacking end.     Dock is looking forward to facing Academy of New Church at home on Wednesday @ 6pm.    Dock record is 6-4 overall and 2-2 league.

Pioneers Win: 10 - 1
4/21/2023 Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 10 Pottstown - 1   Dock won ten to one over Pottstown on a Friday evening game under the lights. Dock's dominating offense was shown today with great teamwork on running our offensive plays.    Pioneers had twenty five shots on goal and had six different goal scorers.  Dock was led by Kenzie Derstine's hat trick of three goals and two shots on goal, Olivia Zaskoda had two goals and four shots on goal, Tess Bergey had two goals and five shots on goal.  Abby Mellinger had a goal and four shots on goal, Jenna Detweiler had a goal and a shot on goal, and Lily Hunsberger also had a goal.  Eden Loux had three shots on goal, Emerson Gruver had two shots on goal, Ana Clara Lima had two shots on goal, Defenders Amanda Moyer and Olivia Veltre each had a shot on goal.  Aubrey Clemmer contributed with good hustle down the field.     Dock had thirteen draw possessions and twenty ground ball pick ups.  Goalie Haley Harper had seven saves on goal and had many strong clears to her teammates.  Dock defense also held strong with consistent play from Megan Wenzel, Olivia Veltre, Amanda Moyer, Clara Gomez-Martin and Kayla Godshall.     Pioneers are enjoying playing some great lacrosse on both sides of the field and Rita's water ice   Pioneers are looking forward to hosting league opponent on Monday Collegium Charter for an afternoon game @ 3:45pm and then facing at home Academy of New Church on Wednesday @ 6:30pm   Dock Record - 5-4 overall - 1-2 league

4/20/2023  Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 5   Upper Moreland - 17   Tough loss for the Pioneers today, Upper Moreland scored seventeen goals and Pioneers scored five goals.  Pioneers goal scorers were led by Abby Mellinger with three goals today and three shots on goal, Kenzie Derstine had a goal and four shots on goal, and Olivia Zaskoda had a goal and shot on goal. Lily Hunsberger, Eden Loux, and Emerson Gruver each had a shot on goal as well.     Dock goalie Haley Harper made four saves.  Dock's defensive squad Megan Wenzel, Olivia Veltre, Amanda Moyer, Clara Gomez-Martin and Kayla Godshall played strong defense. Dock also had ten draw possessions and fifteen ground ball pick ups, while Upper Moreland had eleven draw possessions and eight ground ball pick ups.   Pioneers are excited to host Pottstown - Friday at 6pm in an under the lights game.   Dock overall record - 4-4 and 1-2 league

4/18/2023  Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 8 Delco - 9   It was a nice spring afternoon at Delco Christian Academy except the Pioneers lost a heart breaking one in the last two minutes of game.  Pioneers Kenzie Derstine led in goals with four, Tess Bergey had a goal, Jenna Detweiler had a goal, Olivia Zaskoda had a goal and shot on goal, Defender Megan Wenzel scored a goal, and Abby Mellinger had a shot on goal and an assist.    Pioneers goalie Haley Harper came up big with eleven saves.  Pioneers also had fifteen ground ball pick ups and eight draws to add to the game. Pioneers also had strong defense from Megan Wenzel, Kayla Godshall, Olivia Veltre, Amanda Moyer and Clara Gomez-Martin.  Despite the lost the pioneers played well matched game and will look forward to hosting Delco for our senior night on May 2 @ 6pm for the rematch!   Pioneers will face Upper Moreland away on Thursday @ 3:45pm and will play Pottstown home on Friday @ 6pm    Pioneers record is 4-3 overall and 1-2 in league

4/4/2023 Dock Lacrosse Pioneers - 16 Collegium Charter - 5 It was an ideal spring afternoon at United Sports in Downingtown, Pa., sunny, a little breezy, and seventy degree's at game time. Pioneers success continues as they beat Collegium Charter sixteen to five. Pioneers offensive was in full bloom today with seven different players on the team who scored goals. Dock's offensive was led by Tess Bergey with five goals, Olivia Zaskoda with four goals, one assist and three shots on goal, Kenzie Derstine added two goals, one shot on goal and two assists, Abby Mellinger had two goals, two assists and two shots on goal, Megan Wenzel had a goal and an assist, Eden Loux scored a goal, and defender Kayla Godshall scored a goal as well. Pioneers Jenna Detweiler added three shots on goal and two assists, Yebeen Lee added an assist in the game and Lily Hunsberger added a shot on goal. We have been battling some injuries lately and we were excited about the addition of Aubrey Clemmer with her skills and Emerson Gruver hustle today all over the field. Pioneers led draws with sixteen and Collegium with seven. Dock also had twenty one ground balls picked up and Collegium had ten ground ball pick ups. Solid goalie play from Haley Harper with three saves on the day. Strong defense from Megan Wenzel, Kayla Godshall, Clara Gomez-Martin and Amanda Moyer. Pioneers lacrosse wishing everyone a Happy Easter and are looking forward to our annual Lacrosse Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday. Next game is after Easter break - Tuesday, April 18 when we play league Opponent Delco Christian @ Delco @ 3:30pm Dock Record - 4-2 overall - 1-1 league

3/30/2023 Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 13 Cheltenham - 4   On Thursday, March 30, a cold and chilly night, Pioneers played Cheltenham and won thirteen to four.  Pioneers led in draw possession with thirteen and Cheltenham had six draws.  Pioneers also led in ground balls with fourteen and Cheltenham had seven ground balls. Dock goalie Senior Haley Harper was once again a wall with thirteen saves and Cheltenham goalie had seven saves.   Pioneers goal scorers came from four different players, they were Kenzie Derstine with five goals and three shots, Olivia Zaskoda with four goals and one shot, Abby Mellinger had two goals and a shot on goal, and Yebeen Lee added two goals.  Docks Tess Bergey had two shots on goal and three assists in the game and  Megan Wenzel had two shots.    Very Consistent play from defenders, Megan Wenzel, Kayla Godshall, Olivia Veltre, Clara Gomez-Martin and Marina Ferrer Genoves.  We also had great offensive hustle from Jenna Detweiler, Emerson Gruver, Lily Hunsberger and Eden Loux. Pioneers are really starting to gel together as a team and are working to achieve team goals that were set out early in the season.    Dock is looking forward to playing league play against Collegium Charter away on Tuesday next week at United Sports in Downingtown and will return on Thursday to host Academy of New Church for a night game before spring break.    Dock Record - 3-2 overall and 0-1 league

3/28/2023 Dock Lacrosse    Pioneers - 3 Jenkintown - 11   Tuesday,  March 28, Pioneers lost to Jenkintown 11-3.  At game time it was a crisp evening night game and our first league game against league champions Drakes.  First half was an intense tight game with score of 3-0 with the Drakes on the upper half.  Pioneers came back with high pressure and continued to be a presence through out the night.    Pioneers captain Kenzie Derstine led the team with a hat trick of three goals and our lone scorer tonight.  Tess Bergey had an assist.  Goalkeeper Haley Harper played very solid again with nine saves.  Pioneers had strong midfield play from Kenzie Derstine, Olivia Zaskoda and Abby Mellinger leading the way in draw possession. Pioneers lead the game with eight draws and Drakes with four draws.  Drakes lead with eight ground balls and Pioneers had three ground balls.    Exciting ending to the night on the sidelines for captain Olivia Zaskoda! Wishing her the best!   Pioneers are looking forward to hosting Cheltenham on Thursday, March 30 @ 6pm    Dock Record overall 2-2 and 0-1 league

Pioneers Win: 3 - 0
3/27/2023 Dock Lacrosse   Pioneers - 3  Sacred Heart - 0   On Monday, March 27, we had an afternoon game against non-league Sacred Heart Academy, Pioneers won 3-0.  During our warm-up it started to drizzle, and ended up starting to rain, by game time it was raining pretty steady, but that didn't slow down the Pioneers who were ready and focused on the game   Pioneers scored in the first 24 seconds of the game, and continued to put on the pressure.  Pioneers had goals from three different players, it was a very offensive game.  Abby Mellinger scored a goal and had one assist during the game, Tess Bergey scored a goal, and YeBeen Lee scored a goal as well.  Ana Clara Lima had an assist, along with Olivia Zaskoda had an assist as well.     Dock won four draws from the start of the game and also had one ground ball pick up.  Dock put on pressure early in the game and never let up.  Unfortunately as the game continued we had thunder and lighting in the area along with down pouring rain, and we ended up heading inside to Rosenberger to wait out the storm.  We ended up celebrating together the win and a birthday!   Dock record - 2-1 overall, next game is tomorrow - Tuesday @ 7pm - night game vs  Jenkintown - league game

Pioneers Win: 11 - 7
3/23/2023 Dock Lacrosse    Pioneers - 11 Lower Moreland - 7    Pioneers Lacrosse first home night game versus non league Lower Moreland.  Rain finally stopped by game time and we even saw the sun during our warm up. Dock won eleven to seven.  Lower Moreland scored first but we came back quickly and put two goals on the board within first five minutes and we continued to keep the lead the entire game.    Dock goal scorers - came from six different players on the team - Kenzie Derstine scored a season high with five goals and had two assists, Tess Bergey scored two goals and had a shot on goal, Olivia Zaskoda scored one goal and one assist, Abby Mellinger scored a goal and had two shots on goal, Jenna Detweiler scored a goal and Olivia Veltre scored a goal and marked Lower Moreland best player on the defensive end.    Outstanding goal tending by Haley Harper with twelve saves.  Strong defensive play from Kayla Godshall, Clara Gomez--Martin, Amanda Moyer and Marina Ferrer Genoves.  On the offensive end we had hustle plays from Emerson Gruver, Lily Hunsberger and Ana Clara Lima.  We won thirteen draws and seventeen ground balls to keep possession most of game.    We are proud of how we played together as a team and keep the lead most of game and continued to play strong the entire time.  Special thank you to those who helped with some of pre game prep that was needed.  We are looking forward to our three home games next week, including two night games, we hope to see you at a game!   Dock overall record 1-1

Pioneers Lose: 5 - 16
3/21/2023  Dock Lacrosse    On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, it was a beautiful spring day, sunny afternoon, 60 degrees and birds were chirping away at Upper Perk High School in Pennsburg. The Dock girls lacrosse team had its season opener against non league double A Upper Perk.    Dock played a fantastic first half with many opportunities to score and keeping possession most of the half.  Dock won four draws in the first half and four draws in the second half.  Dock goals were scored by Kenzie Derstine with four goals, and Olivia Zaskoda with a goal as well.  Abby Mellinger added two shots on goal and Tess Bergey had an assist.  Strong goalie performance by Haley Harper with a season high of twelve saves to start.  Jenna Detweiler, Clara Gomez-Martin, and Megan Wenzel hustled the entire game.  Consist play from defenders Olivia Veltre, Kayla Godshall, and Marina Ferrer Genoves.  Creating offensive plays were Yebeen Lee, Ana Clara Lima, Lily Hunsberger, and Eden Loux.     Final score was 16-5.  Even though we lost the girls played 100 percent the entire game.  We set out many goals to achieve as a team this year and this team is fighting hard to achieve them.  This was the start to our season but we will continue to improve and develop on the things we need to continue to reach our goals.     We are looking forward to our first home night game on Thursday March 23 vs Lower Moreland at 7pm. We hope to see you there!
